Founded in 2002, West Seattle Community Orchestras consists of Debut, Intermediate and Symphony Orchestras, a Wind Symphony, and a Student Strings Ensemble. All are led by accomplished, high-energy and experienced conductors. Participation in the ensembles is open to the community and highly encouraged to budding musicians young and old--currently our member musicians range in age from 8-80! Registration is free for students through grade 12 and a nominal fee is required for adults. Rehearsals are held one evening per week, culminating in quality winter and spring performances. The concerts are free of charge and open to the community at the Chief Sealth International High School auditorium. The goal of WSCO is to instill passion and inspire an enjoyment of music-making through instruction and mentoring in mixed age ensembles. Musical pieces range in genre from classical to modern pop. The ability to read music is the only prerequisite.
