Weed Warriors are stewards of public places - parks, trails, and open spaces. We connect kids to nature.
Our Nature Stewards Program connects communities to the natural landscape, and fosters a social responsibility for public areas.

Volunteers of all ages help shape the environmental health of their public parks by participating in local restoration projects - removing invasive weeds and planting native plants. We advocate for communities to live in harmony with nature by providing native habitat for birds, butterflies and pollinators.
Since we began in 2008, volunteers have donated 20,550 hours. Our stewards are priceless, since the projects relieve the burden of the local jurisdictions to control weeds. If a price could be put a value of the total volunteer service hours, this would total $552.325.00. Thank you, Volunteers!

We've grown and evolved since our initial beginning with weed removal and restoration projects. Our program now includes workshops, events, classroom presentations, nature trail walks, rain garden installations, and advocacy for environmental issues - all activities supporting our mission to impart and nurture environmental stewardship. Our program name, Nature Stewards, reflects what we do. Our vision is to see the world living in harmony with nature.

We appreciate your support as we continue to connect kids to nature and engage community members in stewardship of their public parks and trails. Thank you!

The Weed Warriors would like to acknowledge their awesome, dedicated Board of Directors that diligently oversees the Nature Stewards Program and participates in many of our events. We were recently honored by receiving 2016 Conservation Award from the National Wildlife Federation. We have also received the Diamond Award from the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce for the best Community Service non-profit.
