GiveBIG for Town Hall's Acoustics Program

Whether it's a world premiere from an emerging composer, a family dance party headlined by Caspar Babypants, or the voice of a young poet, you'll hear it all at Town Hall Seattle. We're the performance home for more than 100 local cultural producers and nonprofits, and we bring global talents to our city through our music series: Town Music, Global Rhythms, and Saturday Family Concerts.

Now, it's time to make us an even better home for our region's music and culture as we give our landmark home its next century of life. Town Hall is undergoing a top-to-bottom historic renovation, including a suite of acoustic upgrades that will transform us into a world-class performance space dedicated to community use. When you give to Town Hall through GiveBIG this year, you'll help us make these sound improvements:

• A Better Great Hall: A signature acoustic reflector above the Great Hall stage. The wooden construction mimics the shape of a lute and will deliver full, rounded sound to every seat in the house.
• Sound Fidelity: Imagine a symphony in the Great Hall, a civic discussion in the new West Lounge, and live radio theatre Downstairs-all at the same time. Comprehensive sound proofing will isolate sound between each space and keep street noise at bay.
• Amplified Voices: Town Hall is a shared stage for our region's homegrown culture and music, and a new acoustics program will make our stages an even more versatile platform for our city's artists, musicians, and performers.

Organization Overview

There's nowhere else like Town Hall Seattle, anywhere. Far more than just a venue, Town Hall is a gathering place where ideas are planted and movements grow. It's where we come together as a community to listen and be heard - to ask and answer the big questions facing our city and our world.

Everyone deserves a voice in the life of their community, and Town Hall today reflects nearly two decades of intentional navigation toward that goal. We often say Town Hall's job is to help people find their power. Guided by this philosophy, Town Hall has matured into a nationally unique institution that amplifies the voices of diverse communities and cultivates more engaged, educated, and empathetic citizens.

Town Hall is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1998 to save a beloved historic building and create an affordable performance home for the region's small and mid-sized arts and civic organizations. We annually engage 110,000+ people at more than 425 events, host 90 community producers on our stages, present hundreds of artists and scholars, and collaborate with an additional 150 grassroots groups in our self-produced programs.

Our highly collaborative model and deep commitment to accessibility for presenters and audiences make us a new kind of cultural catalyst. Town Hall Seattle extends the reach and capacity of small and mid-sized arts and activist organizations through deeply subsidized rental rates, production assistance, and marketing support.

Just as Town Hall ensures that everyone can afford to take the stage, Town Hall's radically affordable ticket model ensures that all audiences can participate. Most of our events are just $5 or free. Our lack of tiered ticketing reinforces the diversity seen on our stages, as guests from all backgrounds sit next to one another along curved pews and literally rub elbows with different perspectives.

Your gift will be matched 2:1! Wyncote Foundation NW and Nesholm Family Foundation will each give $1 for every dollar you contribute up to $25,000!
