Tasveer cultivates a safe and non-judgmental platform through thought-provoking art and cultural events for members of the South Asian community in which they can critically engage on key issues such as inequality, racism, communalism, and gender bias. Now more than ever, the space provided by Tasveer is essential because South Asians have been target of recent hate crimes in the country. We work on deconstructing stereotypes about our community.
Tasveer was founded by two local South Asian immigrant women Rita Meher and Farah Nousheen in March 2002, with the objective of raising awareness, promoting diversity and inclusion, and dispelling cultural stereotypes about our community, especially after 9/11.
