Located on the northwest side of Capitol Hill, Streissguth Gardens is an urban oasis - offering amazing views of Lake Union, downtown Seattle, and the Olympic Mountains. Plantings on this small, steep hillside garden have been selected to offer flowers every day of the year. Along with the beautiful vegetation and view, visitors enjoy winding trails, gurgling ponds, and birdsong.

Developed gradually over the course of more than forty years, the garden has grown from a tangled hillside to approximately one acre of cultivated woodland and perennial beds. The Streissguth family gave the land to the city in 1996, seeded a small endowment fund for its ongoing maintenance, and now continues to care for the garden through a leaseback agreement. Originally maintained by Dan and Ann Streissguth, their son Ben took over full management of Streissguth Gardens in 2015. The garden is open to visitors year-round free of charge, and additional contributions will help ensure that it remains an urban gem.
Our fiscal sponsor, Seattle Parks Foundation, has created a $1,000 challenge award that we'll receive if we secure gifts--of any size--from at least fifteen (15) unique donors.
