Puget Sound Beekeepers Association

PSBA's mission is to promote the common interest and general welfare of beekeeping and to protect honey bees. We educate beekeepers on best management practices and share information with the public about the importance of pollinators to our ecosystem and ways to help bees thrive in both urban and rural landscapes. In addition, we support and conduct honey bee research focused on improving the state of health of honey bees in the state of Washington.

The Puget Sound Beekeepers Association is a 100% volunteer operated 501c3 with a focus of protecting honey bees and the general welfare of beekeeping. We educate beekeepers and the public about the importance of bees to our environment and offer ongoing training opportunities through our classes and apiary in the Washington Park Arboretum. Serving the Puget Sound area for over 60 years, PSBA has a long tradition of engaging the community through free and informative presentations each month at our general meetings and by participating in community events where we sell honey and share information about ways to help bees. We have a desire to expand the Bee Friendly Habitat program to encompass collaborations with the City of Seattle's Street Tree program and other entities focused on land management with intent to boost bee-friendly habitat. We support our members with education and materials so they can educate children and adults in classrooms and exhibits in the Greater Seattle area. In 2016 and again in 2017, PSBA volunteers distributed free of charge 10,000 packets of local wildflower seeds to children, classrooms, and the public so they may grow plants that support bees and other pollinators in our region.
