Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank
In downtown Seattle, the Pike Market Senior Center strives to make each day better and safer for older adults; the Pike Market Food Bank serves people of all ages who face hunger. Together, we provide services, activities, and support that lead to more self-sufficient and fulfilling lives.

This year, we are directing all GiveBIG donations to purchase food for the Pike Market Food Bank. The Food Bank serves over 3,900 of our downtown neighbors. We are very much a community-run resource. Volunteers provided 19,000 hours of work last year. Local schools, businesses, and churches provide many of those volunteer hours and also help out by holding food and fund drives to keep our shelves stocked.
In 2018, we are working to make our Food Bank a better resource for the large homeless population downtown, offering more no-cook and nutritious ready-to-eat options.
The Food Bank has a sister agency in the Market. The Pike Market Senior Center serves a population of 1,300 older adults who are aging in poverty. Over 90% of the clients are low-/no-income, most live alone, and nearly half are homeless. This population is at risk of inadequate nutrition and social isolation. To best serve our members, we are open every day, offering free meals, access to social workers, and a variety of healthy and fun activities.
Every neighborhood needs a senior center and a food bank - and we've got Downtown Seattle covered!
