Pawsitive Alliance coordinates multi-shelter adoption events that bring multiple animal shelter agencies from across the State under one roof. Our events typically have 10-20 shelter and rescue organizations in attendance and typically result in 50-100 animals adopted. The focus is on bringing animals from shelters located in rural areas of Washington to the Puget Sound area where there is a significantly larger population base. Since 2008, our adoption events have resulted in over 7,211 dog and cat adoptions. We partner with and serve animal adoption agencies of all sizes. Our 2017 Statewide Shelter Open House had 35 participating shelters across the State and resulted in over 421 adoptions.

Our #whynotmepets program focuses on animals that have been in the shelter long-term, are elderly, have behavior or medical needs, or aren't thriving in the shelter environment; and, the animals that make up a large percentage of the shelter population, such as bully breeds.

Our Spay Neuter Increase Program (SNIP SNIP) provides low cost spay and neuter surgeries for the pets of low income families. We offer free and low cost spay/neuter assistance for low income families through vouchers, targeted spay/neuter programs and sponsored clinic days. Our SNIP SNIP resources are focused in geographic areas of the State and populations of animals with historically high euthanasia rates. During the past two years we helped cover the cost to spay/neuter over 1,200 owned cats and dogs and free roaming cats.

Our Education Program focuses on building a happy and healthy experience for pets and their families to support a lifelong bond. Many pets are relinquished to a shelter due to behavior problems that can be remedied if addressed. By setting adopters up for success we can help ensure a healthy and happy home. Our Dog Concierge volunteers work with potential adopters to find the right dog for their lifestyle, family and living situation, as well as provide post adoption support.
