NEST is on a mission to connect neighbors so that no one in NE Seattle has to grow older alone. Neighborly support, trusted community resources, and enriching programs enable NE Seattle residents to lead healthy, active and engaged lives while growing older in the homes and neighborhoods they love. 225 Volunteers respond to requests for transportation, home and garden maintenance, home visits, computer problems and other tasks that allow seniors to “age in community.” A robust vendor network is available for needs that fall outside the realm of the neighborly support of volunteers. A wide variety of continuing education and cultural programs foster community and enrich the lives of elder members while creating inter-generational bonds. Rather than feeling isolated, like a burden, or having to move away, NEST members have one phone number to call to access resources that support to thrive in their home of choice. NEST's geographic boundaries are Lake Washington to the east, north to NE 110th,west to I-5 and south to the Montlake Cut.
