Mary Mahoney Professional Nurses Organization was first established as the Mary Mahoney Registered Nurses Club in 1949. Anne Foy Baker invited 12 other 'colored' registered nurses to a meeting in her Seattle home to meet one another and discuss the idea of establishing a professional organization. Under her leadership, the organization was created to share job information, support each other and provide scholarships to students pursuing education and careers in nursing.
This year Mary Mahoney Professional Nursing Organization celebrated its 68th year of service to students of African Heritage. MMPNO has awarded 30 nursing scholarships since 2014. In addition, MMPNO has provided service to over 750 clients, health screening, health education, assistance with enrollment into insurances plans and other community services.
Your giving will help us meet our scholarship goals for supporting deserving nursing students facing increasing cost of education.
