GreenStage

GreenStage's mission is to inspire our audiences to engage in live theatre as part of their recreation. We wish to instill and foster in our community an appreciation for live theater, with a strong belief that theater can be enjoyed in the same spirit as a picnic or a ballgame. We make high-quality theatrical productions of Shakespeare's plays freely accessible to all residents and visitors to Seattle and King County.

GreenStage is Seattle’s longest-operating Shakespeare theatre and has the rare distinction of having produced Shakespeare's entire canon. Our main season consists of two full length, full cast, Shakespeare plays each summer. We also produce our Backyard Bard summer series which is two abbreviated Shakespeare plays that are both performed by the same four actors. Both of our Shakespeare in the Park programs tour parks in and around Seattle. The season consists of around 60 performances, and we reach over 20 parks. All performed free to the public.

Free is the key; GreenStage is dedicated to making high-quality, professional theatrical experiences available and accessible to anyone who wishes to attend, regardless of ability to pay. Our main focus is Shakespeare and other classic plays, which we present during the summer in outdoor locations.
