Explorer West Middle School is a small learning community where young adolescents thrive. The school was founded in 1996 with these goals: Educate the entire child; Affordable tuition; Small class sizes; Incorporate diversity and inculsivity in the student body; Embrace sustainability while developing a loving community. Our collaborative learning environment redefines the middle school experience by combining academic rigor with a special emphasis on each student's character growth by fostering confidence and discovery while focusing on respect, individual and civic responsibility, hard work, honesty, perseverance, volunteerism and community involvement.
The school is accredited by the NWAIS and has an award-winning sustainability program, robust and community-wide outdoor education, and 22 years of high school preparatory success. The school annually enrolls Rainier Scholars and partners with numerous community groups through our community service projects.
