"Poetry is a necessity of life... It is a function of poetry to locate those zones inside us that would be free, and declare them so."-C.D. Wright

Copper Canyon Press publishes extraordinary poetry, produces beautifully-crafted books, and engages with poetry readers worldwide. Since 1972, the Press has established an international reputation for its commitment to authors, its editorial acumen, and its dedication to poetry audiences. From fresh debuts to out-of-print classics, we publish a wide variety of titles, including translations, anthologies, and prose books about poetry.

In 2018, we continue to embrace new approaches to publishing, engaging readers through social media, crowdfunding campaigns, and increased ebook production. Our crowdfunding campaign for The Essential W.S. Merwin reached over 15,000 viewers on Facebook, Twitter, and Kickstarter. Your support now will help fund 2018 projects such as the last collection of poetry by Ursula K. Le Guin, finished just before she passed away in January of 2018; collections from former U.S. Poet Laureates and Pulitzer Prize-winners Ted Kooser and W.S. Merwin; and stunning poetry to be published in our fall season by Jim Harrison, C.D. Wright, Sherman Bitsui, Bob Hicok, Chase Twichell, David Orr, Tishani Doshi, and Jane Miller.

Copper Canyon Press remains dedicated to the art of the book, including archival printing, quality design, and beautifully-set text. Your support will help create future stunning books of poetry by both established and emerging writers. By donating to Copper Canyon Press, you further our mission of engaging new readers and celebrating fresh poetic voices. Thank you for making our work possible!
Copper Canyon Press is deeply grateful to the Lannan Foundation for providing up to $50,000 in a matching grant for gifts made during GiveBig Day 2018.

Lannan Foundation is a family foundation dedicated to cultural freedom, diversity and creativity through projects which support exceptional contemporary artists and writers, as well as inspired Native activists in rural indigenous communities. The Foundation recognizes the profound and often unquantifiable value of the creative process and is willing to take risks and make substantial investments in ambitious and experimental thinking. Understanding that globalization threatens all cultures and ecosystems, the Foundation is particularly interested in projects that encourage freedom of inquiry, imagination, and expression. The Foundation supports this mission by making grants to nonprofit organizations in the areas of contemporary visual art, literature, indigenous communities, and cultural freedom. The Foundation also gives awards and fellowships to writers of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction and in the area of cultural freedom.
