Community Alliance for Global Justice

Community Alliance for Global Justice is dedicated to strengthening the global food sovereignty movement. CAGJ is grassroots, community-based and committed to anti-oppressive organizing as we build solidarity across diverse movements. CAGJ seeks to transform unjust trade and agricultural policies imposed by corporations, governments and other institutions, while creating and supporting alternatives that embody social justice, sustainability, diversity and grassroots democracy.

CAGJ's AGRA Watch campaign works closely with partner organizations in African civil society to challenge the Seattle-based Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in their support of the biotech industry and market-based industrial agricultural development. CAGJ's Food Justice Project mobilizes our members and the public for a fair food system through two primary programs: Solidarity Campaigns, to organize and support campaigns in solidarity with local family farmers and food producers, farmworkers, for the right to good food, food chain workers, and food justice globally; and Educate for Action, offering community-based workshops and "Teach-outs" educating about food justice and food sovereignty movements, and encouraging people to take action. CAGJ's Trade Justice work connects the dots between food and agriculture policy and trade agreements, to mobilize for a just global economy.
