COLA is Seattle's non-profit advocate for dogs and their people. There are thousands of non-profits established to get dogs adopted into loving homes, COLA handles the next steps for Seattle dog owners: where to exercise and recreate with them in a safe and legal manner, and how to be a good dog-parent and raise a well behaved canine citizen.

Today, Seattle is in desperate need of more off-leash areas, having less than most major American cities. With approximately 25 acres of dog parks, and roughly 150,000 dogs in the city, our off-leash areas are extremely crowded. This is why COLA is advocating to increase the number of dog parks and expand legal off-leash land in an equitable manner around the city.

Our education program helps to ensure that Seattle's dog community is set up for success. Offering free classes on actions, behaviors, and community/canine advocacy, our Ambassador program helps train dogs and their people in the ABC's of good canine citizenship.

For the last 20 years, COLA has managed and maintained Seattle's dog parks. Understanding that we all must co-exist in our built environment, COLA also works on being good stewards of our land, partnering with local environmental advocacy and restoration groups to reduce the environmental impact our dog parks have on stormwater runoff and local wildlife populations.
