Bushwick Northwest strives to increase awareness in literature and song writing, while at the same time remind people (young and old) that reading can and should be a regular and enriching part of our daily lives. We want to provide space and occasion for connection between artistic mediums - literature and music, between artists - songwriters, musicians, and writers, and between artists and audiences. We want to educate young people about the powerful impact literature can have, and inspire students' passion for it through the lens of music and songwriting.

The Bushwick Book Club Seattle presents live events inspired by books, but also offers free studio recording time to its community of performers, songwriters, and musicians at select times each year. Networking opportunities, resources, and music consulting are also available through Bushwick's administration. Bushwick aims to work with local authors in order to build a community where where a whole comminity can succeed. We hope to expand and grow the resources and recording opportunities we can provide to local artists through donations, grants and foundational funding.

STYLE: Songwriting Through Youth Literature Education ignites student's passion for literature through collaborative songwriting education. Through program and library grant partnerships, STYLE has been able to offer a limited amount of scholarship opportunities and discounts in order to provide our educational programs to Title I and underfunded schools. However, we want to be able to offer more scholarships and grant opportunities to our local Washington schools who want to work with us but don't have any budget or funding for extra programming. We've seen great success with our STYLE programs, and marked how they've provided a tangible way for K-12 students to connect with literature and with their peers. We want to continue educating students through our engaging programs, and we want to make them accessible to all schools through regular scholarship support.
