The Friends of Cayton Corner Park are working to transform an empty lot at the corner of Madison Street and 19th Avenue into a gathering place for a uniquely diverse neighborhood. Ninety-six units of affordable and transitional housing sit adjacent to the site, and 17 nonprofit organizations are located within a two-block radius, including the Hearing, Speech and Deafness Center and surrounding mixed residential housing.

Design plans feature a plaza, seating nooks, a chess table, a slide for kids, a bicycle rack, and a sensory garden. The park will bring green vegetation into a rapidly changing urban environment. The space will be ideal for people to rest while walking their dog or riding their bicycle. It will provide a nice space for neighbors to enjoy the view or socialize as they sit to eat their lunch or read a book from our little free library.
